Biography
Sherri Robinson advises individuals and businesses in tax planning, estate planning and administration, corporate governance, and reorganizations. She helps to structure clients’ business and personal affairs in the most tax-efficient way, and in a manner that serves both present and future needs. Her individual clients include average income earners to high net worth individuals.
Sherri gives every client her undivided attention and is acknowledged as friendly and responsive to client needs. She explains very complicated matters clearly so that clients truly understand her tailored legal advice.
Individual clients benefit by minimizing tax on death and on the transfer of wealth to the next generation. Sherri prepares estate planning documents, including the creation of Wills, inter-vivos and testamentary trusts, all of which serve to ensure that assets are distributed according to the client’s wishes. She regularly assists accountants, financial planners, trust officers and other lawyers with their clients’ estate planning needs.
Sherri also assists with Powers of Attorney, representation agreements and committeeship applications in the event you or a loved one becomes incapable of managing yourself or your financial affairs.
Her work in estate administration includes advising executors, administrators and trustees on all aspects of probate and administration, from their initial and ongoing duties and obligations, to preparing the probate or administration application, to the passing of accounts, to executor and trustee compensation and to the final release. Her corporate work involves all aspects of corporate governance, from incorporation and setting up the appropriate corporate structure, to documenting annual maintenance, dividends and redemptions, to corporate reorganizations and amalgamations.
Sherri is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and is Past Chair of the CBA’s Wills & Trusts Subsection. Sherri is also a member of the Fraser Valley Technical Tax Group. She is a past Update Editor for Continuing Legal Education’s Estate Planning & Wealth Preservation Manual, the Probate & Estate Administration Practice Manual and the National Wills & Trusts Section’s Concordance Table. Sherri is also a frequent guest speaker for the Professional Legal Training Course.
Sherri Robinson holds a 2001 B.A. from Simon Fraser University, received her law degree from the University of Victoria in 2004 and has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth tax course.
